Bombs Away!

A good appealing to the eye ad that shows figures riding/surfing on bombs. The layout helps the eye go around the page. From the top right to the bottom left.
The colors make it good for the eyes, with the simple use of black, white, and orange.

Layout Design - Week Six

This is a flyer for a Graphic Design firm. It's a bit oversaturated with logos, but it's not too bad and the message is clear.

This object is an object that I love very much. How it feels and the was it lights up is just the little bonuses that you receive when using this object. It is a really cool shape though when you think about it. It is perfect to fit in your hand and easy to place your fingers around it. The two side buttons are also place it a really good position so that it is easy access to your pinky and your thumb. I think the mouse design has really increased in the easiness of how it is used. So far to me I think that this is one of the best mousse yet. I really find it to be a hard challenge to create another computer mouse that is attractive and easy to use as this one. But who ever do create the newer and better one is up for a challenge.

3D Find #5: Form and Space

First I have a pitcher from my sake set. I just think the shape is so dynamic, unlike a normal liquor bottle or container. It is a beautiful ceramic piece.

Next I have a "statue" that my parents got me from an art show. It's a bird made out of wood and coconuts. His head even swivels. You can really create something interesting out of anything laying around.

3D Find #4: Form and Space

My first example is of an ash tray I found at Walmart. I just thought it was the most interesting ash tray I had ever seen. They are normally always the same basic shape and color. You don't normally see them in funky shapes and bright colors.

Second is a hookah. Yes, a HOOKAH. You never really find two that are exactly the same.

3D Find #3: Form and Space

The first photo is a decoration from the Cinco De Mayo party at AI. I always loved these silly paper decorations. How such a cool decoration with detail could be created out of some tissue paper is very interesting.

The second is kind of dark but it is a tiki statue. Some people spend their lives just carving these statues. I can't imagine how much time they must take. And they're so beautiful.

3D Find #2: Form and Space

The first photo is a kind of shelf. I thought it was neat how ornate it was. Also it's almost like it could be part of the wall coming out.

I'm not sure why I liked this lamp so much. I saw it at work and had to snap a photo. It's not anything special but it's just very interesting to me. The whole house was done in palm trees but I thought this was the most interesting piece.

F50

One of my all time favorite cars in the world is the Ferrari F50.This is not the full size version, but a toy I have had since I was a kid. The F50 was introduced in 1995 with a v12 engine. The amazing thing to me is that companies who manufacture these super cars only do so in a limited number, For example there were only 349 Ferrari F50s made. Some day I would like to have a life size version of this car after a sell both my kidneys…don’t you need one to live?

Short Circuit

This is a life size robot I designed for one of Todd’s classes; I think the class was concept design. The entire robot took me around 40+ hours and I am still not done with it. The robot stands 6 foot tall and weighs roughly 90 pounds. The materials that I used were PVC pipe, old news paper and old cardboard. There is also some plaster applied on the outer chest and legs. My original idea was to have the robot have a smooth finish so it would look like it was metal, it did not turn out exactly like I envisioned. However, I had fun creating it.

Power UP!

This Energizer Battery Charger may not look all that interesting at first, but if you take a second look you will notice in fact that there are many smart design features. The first feature that I noticed was how the case can close when not in use, this save on storage space .The second feature a noticed is that there are little bumps on the side of the case so it does not slip out of your hands when you are holding it. The coolest part of the entire charger is that when it is plugged in it has a small green light to let you know that your batteries are charging correctly. The one thing that I have yet to figure out is why there are holes in the upper part of the charger. If I was to take a guess ,I think it’s so that heat can be released from the case.

Wake UP!

This is an old style replica clock I acquired a few years ago. This is my favorite type of clock. The clock stands from top to bottom six inches. The outside cover is finished in some sort of metal that is made to look like brushed brass. I can tell its not real brass because it’s far to light. One thing that I find interesting is that it does have a working alarm. Never used it for waking up, but I did try it once when I bought the clock and it sounded like pots and pans banging together…So I never used the alarm feature again.

Little Cottage

It's a house, a cottage...a jewelry box? Believe it or not, this small wooden cottage is a jewelry box. When you open the roof, inside there are small compartments to put your necklaces, bracelets and rings. The house appears to be handpainted and has lots of small details. The roof is made out of small branches, similar to what you'd find on an old broom.

One Fish, Two Fish

This lamp is beautiful with underwater scenery of tropical fish and ocean plants. When you flip the switch, the lamp lights up and the fish go round in circles inside. It reminds me a lot of a lava lamp, only more unique. This lamp is very pretty to look at and looks good in any room.

Baby Carriage

This is a baby carriage that my mom recieved as a gift when my sister was born. What makes it interesting is that it's actually a flower pot. When she got it, it had a small pink plant growing inside. I think it's either made out of glass, ceramic or porcelain. I like how it's designed with its intricate patterns. I feel that this carriage celebrates the birth of a new child with a new pretty plant.

Chest

This chest has been past down to me from my parents.

Power bars

I think the coloring works great with the angle of the bars.

Layout Design - Project 4

It took so long to get done, my eyes hurt...

One with nature

As I walked thru the garden I spotted this very unusual flower. The bright red spikey ball in a tree was this delight. To find something in nature so beautiful is normal but, the added delight of the shape and texture.

Sunshine

I just got back from an exhibit of on of my favorite artist, Dale Chihuly. His work with glass is mystifing. You look at a peice and wnder how he did that. This piece is made up of a bunch of pieces put together to make on giant piece. I feel that no matter what setting this is displayed it will be a ray of sunshine to the setting.
