Capterpillars con ants with smell

Why is this news... Is the world that boring that this is the best news that the media had to come up with this story?

Cookies

Over all when it came to this type of packaging I just found it boring and overly used. The packaging is simple, and does not go over board, which I like about the product. It protects the product from damage and the fact it is not "blue" is very appealing. But it’s an unoriginal design that only bores me.

Layout Design

I love how the colors in this are bold - the punch of red draws your eyes to it. Although the text that states "Start Your Revolution" blends a little too much into the background, I think that the ad still conveys the classiness of the company, as well as drawing your attention by centering the main focus of the ad; that giant gold ring, showing off all the intricate details. A simple layout, but effective in my eyes.

Layout Design

I like this add b/c of the inventive way that they display the merchandise. Go Circa go!

Asian Food

Indian , Thai or Indonesian food are well known world wide. We can think that immigrants live with the need to keep in touch with their roots and one way is through the food, their recipes. Some times a good recipe is a fountain of memories for an immigrant. The Indian Curry is in the essence of the Indian food, many dishes are made with curry and usually you can found it not only in the Indian or asian supermarkets but in the Western ones as well. It was package in a can or a plastic bag with very little design if any. This package is a complete change in how to present their food. The are competitive with any american package and the balance and proportions of the package call the attetion of our eyes.

Mexican Seasoning with Taste

From the Latin Countries only the Italians and the Mexicans have been able to create a huge market for their food. They can tell a success story in terms of propagation of their flavors and their tastes.
This package announcing taco seasoning is successful ; It is impossible to miss it ;any costumer will remember it because the Colors are brilliant and different from the typical color of the rest of the seasoning and spices brands.
The quality of the picture is good and highlighted the typical taco that everybody knows. The Elements of the label are centered and the Type Face is readable and not to Mexican so the people can approach the product with confidence thinking more international and less local.

Dog Food

Our package design class is still working a label redesign project, and this is the can that I am going to redesign. This is the Sweetbay's generic brand of dog food. While the blue does stand out on the shelf, I think that the overall design of the can is very ineffective. It looks like something that is very out of date design wise. While, I wouldn't mind spending less money on food for my dog the appeal of this product is very low. I don't understand the reasoning behind putting this picture of a girl and a dog on the front of the can when every other company chooses to put a picture of dog food on their cans. It kind of makes the customer wonder what they are feeding their pet or if this company's food just looks that bad that they couldn't put a picture of it on their can.

ScumBad

ScumBad...doesn't that name just make you want to go out and buy that product. I certainly hope this company didn't pay a designer for this product because that name is really bad!! I think if I saw this product next to dove or softsoap I would probably go for one of those products. While I do agree that scum is bad I don't think that name is too appealing for soap. Usually companies like this want to to feel relaxed and put things like flowers or sunsets on their products, so maybe they just want you to know that you are getting all of the scum off. I guess if you want people to think of themselves as a dirty dishes this marketing theory works well.

Package Design - week 4

This is a Winn Dixie’s brand for tomato sauce. The dark colors, black and dark green, and the picture are not effective. The black top of the label takes too much space giving consumers a mourning feeling. The situation gets worse when we consider the amount of green background, which ends up acting as the color of the wall behind the product. The fact that the can was placed by the Del Monte brand is also a failed selling approach. The Del Monte brand does not make use of the color black and it has a picture of fresh tomatoes, which gives the impression that the sauce is fresh. The label stands out a lot better because of a good picture.
The Winn Dixie brand on the other hand has the picture of the sauce only, which gives the impression that it is not fresh and it advertises a “gooey” content that people may not be drawn to. The fact that everyone knows what the content is does not necessarily mean that consumers want to see it. For example, when selling veal, designers of menus and labels do not use a picture of a baby cow – a calf. The fresh tomatoes are more tempting than simply a bowl with sauce. The black definitely does not help label stand out.

Kangaroo

This morning I was listing to the BS on the radio and Buckethead was talking about how he wanted a kangroo for a pet and then they started to talk about how they wanted to fight a kangaroo. But then somone called in and was talking about how that would not be a good idea because kangaroos fight from birth. So that is how I got my idea. KANGAROOS START FIGHTING WHEN THEY ARE BORN.

Week 4 - Rapid Viz

IT'S RAINING MAN, HALLELUIA!!! :)

Package Design

Sweet Peas by Hannaford: the type on this is left justified, which looks a bit odd considering the typeface used and size difference. It also has a stroke and minor drop shadow which do not enhance the design at all, but in fact take away from the possibility of a clean, simple design. The image of the peas is not completely clear, however; there is another image collaged around the right side when you turn the can that looks better, but again, you have to turn the can to see it which is not good for the initial impression of the product. The logo could stand to be smaller as it looks as if it is competing with the “Sweet Peas”, and the bad image. Also, when you turn the can, you realize the band at the top is transparent allowing the image to show through some. I think this makes the product look a bit weak versus a product with the label’s band 100% solid looks cleaner and stronger

Package Design

Hannaford Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix: this one stands out on the shelf with the majority of the package being brown, compared to Swiss Miss having a blue and white box, and Nestle mostly red. Although the brown box stands out, the presentation of the product’s information could be better designed. The main information, “milk chocolate hot cocoa mix with marshmallows”, has a stroke, highlight, and drop shadow, which makes the words somewhat difficult to read. There are more effective ways to make a product and its info stand out than loading it down with all of those special effects, and using them just makes the designers look bad for creating it and the brand even worse for using it. The image isn’t horrible, but could be improved perhaps with better lighting techniques or using a different color cup since the type is also white which causes the words to blend right into it. The logo could also be a bit smaller as right now it seems to be competing with its own image and information, rather than working with it.
