For week 10 I picked an item that isn’t neccessarily new on the market but new in my house I guess you could say. I don’t usually buy soda cans; however, the other day when I was grocery shopping I had a craving for root beer. But they only had the cans in the fridge pack, a type of packaging I had actually never purchased before. I got it home and unpacked all of my groceries and then tried to open up the front part that is perferated on the package and instead of it opening the way it should, all of the cans poured out of the front. I think that the idea is great and is a space saver in some respects; however, if the only front tab left to hold the cans isn’t sturdy what the hell is the point?

Week 9 Analysis

For week 9 I choose a package design that is amazingly designed with extremely modern graphics and a great typeface. However, the item itself is a little iffy. It’s Bong Spirit Vodka. I realize that several people in America and all over the world smoke marijuana and to them this is probably the most amazing thing in since weed itself. However, isn’t it just a little much? Is the alcohol industry that saturated that their next big move was to simulate the shape of a bong to get people to buy it? So, I guess my reason for picking this was more or less the question how far is too far, and what is tasteless? I realize that I am probably the only person who thinks that this is lame, so I am sure I will be out numbered on this specific topic. But, what next? An alcohol bottle in the shape of a heroine needle, or in a phallic symbol? It’s just sad that with this beautiful design they had to put it on this trashy idea for an alcohol bottle.

conceptual imagery depression

Depression feels like a cloud that cannot be lifted, that no matter where you go, it continues to follow you. It reminds me of Eeyore, from Winnie the Pooh, how he has the cloud over him wherever he goes. Depression feels like a heavy weight that burdens you.

Thinking of business, I immediately associate the businessman attire, the typical suit and briefcase.

conceptual imagery

The first thing I think of when I hear technology, is the iPod, so when I heard, "now," I immediately associated means of listening to music. I remember when we used to have to fast foward through tapes to hear songs we wanted to hear, and I even remember owning a record when I was a child. I actually still have a record player in my house, and it's fascinating to see how technology has changed.
