This packaging is unique and I believe that is what makes it stand out on the shelf. I like the die cuts; I like the unique shape of the box; I like the colors and I like the design. I would totally buy this product based just on the fact that….it looks really cool. I would probably not take the product out of the box. I would probably just leave it in there and set it up on my shelf.

Nice Design!
This design works well on all of its products and they did a good job at making it work with every type of bottle, bag, jar etc. The design is clean and when all the products are placed next to each other, it makes a beautiful display. They have created a unified pattern that they use on every jar but they are able to distinguish between the different flavors and spiciness by changing up the colors.
Package Design
I think this is an interesting take on candy bars. Making it look like an envelope or something that can be posted is different than usual. In addition, there is a letter inside them, which makes the consumer want to buy one so they can read what it says inside. The pink one contains a love letter, so it might be something to give for Valentine’s Day to that special someone. I think the colors also make it unusual, yet nice. Most candy bars are in a brown packaging with the foil inside.
Did I mention how much I love Target?
I love these packages. The picture is not that great, but I think these packages really work. They are very bright and stand out even among the other packages on the shelf. They work as individuals and they also work as a group. I was tempted to buy them just because I liked the package so much. The candles inside don’t even smell very good. Everything on this shelf is bright and colorful, but these four boxes stand out the most to me. I think they are elegant and fun at the same time. I like the design and the use of black and a bright color.
Package Design Week #8 Good Packaging
Starkist in this picture really stands out and blows me away to catch the eye and create an easily recognizable brand. The color obviously is the first thing that stands out. The vibrant blue works well for the product and they also have it in a shrink wrap packaging which allows for this. The single cans on the bottom two shelfs have a large amount of white space and doesn't even look appealing. I buy quite alot of tuna with a high protein diet and i almost always buy white albacore tuna from starkist. Actually, i buy starkist brand every single time. From first glance it seems almost like their tuna will taste better because of the colors and vibrant design. Another thing i'd like to point out is how Starkist creates character with their brand and has a cartoon as a sort of mascot for their brand. Cereal makes use of that and i think it's one of the main reasons for Kellogg's success in the industry especially for kids.
Package Design Week #7 Bad Packaging
This product in the photo is the "Success is Rice" positioned near the popular Uncle Ben brand and the Publix brand. This package was actually eye catching but at the same time has a tacky 1980's design. The reason it caught my eye is because of the surrounding product not having a bright combination of colors compared to it. It's got that larger area of bright red and all the others have a dull orange color. The pictureof the rice on the box is also washed out and from more than 5 feet almost looks like nothing is printed on the box in that area. The overall design however is just uncreative. It's a simple layout with a boring typeface that's borderline novelty and a simple picture with really bright colors which is a bit too much. Normally you see these bright colors on junk food in the snacks isle. Rice generally is very healthy food and they should emphasize that more than trying to make you go blind from staring at it.

layout design week #10
layout design week #9
This is an insert I received when I bought a season of One Tree Hill. Inside is all the other TV shows you can purchase on DVD. I like how they included several different sized pictures, but I'm not a fan of the colors scheme. It's somewhat boring, but I do like that there are different sized pictures.
layout design week #6
This is a mailer promoting a conference for college group leaders. I love how the canvas is divided with a small piece on the left side and the larger white on the right. I like how the name of the conference (Thirsty) is horizontal, while the slogan is printed vertically. If you can't see, its water that is sloshing around the page, which ads to the name of the conference.
